Watch: YouTube Bans Hungary’s Fidesz Advert Because of Copyright Claim
YouTube has begun to ban Fidesz advertisements styled as “The Gyurcsány Show” which present Péter Márki-Zay as a subordinate of Ferenc Gyurcsány in the style of the Dr. Evil and Mini-Me characters in the Austin Powers comedy movies.

RTL News asked Warner Media, the owner of the Austin Powers movies, whether it had allowed the Civil Unity Forum and Fidesz to use images from the films.

At the time RTL received the reply that Warner Media did not wish to comment.

Independent MP Ákos Hadházy posted on Wednesday that the use of the characters is indeed considered illegal since the videos in question using Austin Powers had been removed from several YouTube accounts “because of the copyright claim of Warner Bros. Entertainment”.

The content is still accessible on a few smaller accounts.

RTL asked Warner Media whether it plans to take further steps because of the videos or the thousands of billboards present in the country, which also feature images from the movie.
