State Media Starting to Closely Monitor Employees in Hungary Using Special Software
Even the mouse movements on computers used by employees of state media manager MTVA will be monitored as well as which pages employees open, and how much time they spend on websites, RTL reports.

According to the public procurement documents, Ft 150 million will be spent on special software “to maintain staff productivity and objectively measure the performance of colleagues in the altered work schedule due to the pandemic”.

A consortium led by MTVA and Fornax ICT has been awarded a contract worth Ft 150 million plus VAT to develop an app to monitor employees’ computer activity.

The tool is presumably not yet ready, with a contract period of 180 days from the date of signing in mid-June.

RTL asked MTVA about the decision to invest such a large sum in the app, whether it had considered the current economic situation and whether it had consulted its employees, but received no reply.
