“Nonsensical Lies”: Slovak Foreign Minister’s TV Claim About Potential Territorial Demands by Hungary in Slovakia
Hungary’s foreign ministry on Wednesday summoned the Slovak ambassador over the Slovak foreign minister’s recent speculation regarding potential territorial demands by Hungary in Slovakia.

Speaking on a Slovak television programme, Rastislav Káčer said that if Russia managed to conquer Ukraine, Hungary could make demands of Slovakia that threatened the country’s territorial integrity.

Tamás Menczer, the foreign ministry state secretary for external relations, said on Wednesday that he had summoned Slovakia’s ambassador to Budapest and told him that Káčer’s remarks were “unacceptable, nonsensical lies”.

“Europe is facing major crises, and times like these call for sober-minded politicians,” Menczer said on Facebook. “Slovakia’s current foreign minister isn’t one.”

Menczer said Káčer was “attacking Hungary” because of its pro-peace stance and opposition to sanctions. “But this won’t change even if Minister Káčer doesn’t like it.”
