Olympic Medals: Hungary Way Ahead of Rest in Central Europe
Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky has thanked the Hungarian participants for their performance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The minister said on Facebook that an important period had finished in the lives of 180 Hungarian athletes, including 23 soldiers.

“We witnessed the results of their hard work over years, sometimes even decades,” he added.

He said he was proud of Hungary’s achievements at the Olympics, where “we were the sixth most successful country in Europe and way ahead of everyone else in central Europe”.

In proportion to the country’s population, Hungary ranks among the top ten in terms of gold medals won, he said.

The minister said also that 39 Hungarians will participate at the Paralympic Games starting in Paris on August 28 and he wished them much success.
