51-Year-Old Swimmer 1st Hungarian to Tackle New Zealand Taupo Lake Challenge
Extreme long-distance swimmer Attila Manyoki has been the first Hungarian to successfully tackle Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest lake, as part of the Stillwater Eight marathon swimming challenge he told MTI.

"I started swimming on Sunday morning in the water measuring a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius," he said in a statement, adding that his official time of completing the fourth of the eight challenges was recorded at 13 hours 48 minutes and 37 seconds. "The official distance is 40.4 kilometres," the 51-year-old athlete added.

Manyoki said he had made his best effort and completed more than 51,000 arm strokes in the second longest freshwater swim of his career.

In 2019, Manyoki became the the first Hungarian and the 18th swimmer in the world to complete the Oceans Seven series, which included the seven most difficult straits in the world.
