New Trial: Conductor-Less Trains Launched by Hungarian Railways
Starting Monday, all trains between Rákos and Pilisvörösvár, designated the S76 route, will operate without conductors, state-owned passenger operator MÁV-Start announced.

This system, tested earlier this year, is fully expected to expand to more suburban and rural lines after evaluation.

From September 16, the Budapest-Esztergom and Budapest-Győr lines will adopt conductor-less operation, followed by other lines later in September and October.

On September 30, S36 and G43 trains between Budapest and Székesfehérvár, as well as S40 trains from Budapest Déli to Százhalombatta and Pusztaszabolcs, will switch to the conductor-less system.

The new system will be introduced on a trial basis, and passengers can get assistance via the MÁVDirekt customer service, the EMMA travel planner, or the MÁV app, the rail company said.
