From Saturday, September 19 to Sunday, September 20, the stretch of Id. Antall József Embankment between the Chain Bridge and the Hungarian Parliament will be filled with activities ranging from rowing and cycling to roller skating, skateboarding, pedal go-karting, model railway building and creative workshops.

Held as part of European Mobility Week, the event puts active and sustainable urban mobility in the spotlight while also showing how Budapest's riverside spaces can be used for recreation and community activities when they are free from traffic.

Saturday, September 19

The first day offers a particularly varied programme, with activities taking place throughout the embankment.

10:00–20:00 – Free sports equipment lending
Visitors can borrow sports equipment at the Valyo!Pavilon, making it possible to join in without bringing your own gear.

10:00–16:00 – Concrete-block painting
Artist Anita Nemes will lead a creative painting activity at the Grund.

11:00–12:00 – Acoustic concert
János Kardos-Horváth will perform an acoustic concert at the Valyo!Pavilon.

12:00–18:00 – Dry-land rowing
The Hungarian Rowing Federation will introduce visitors to rowing on dry land at Szabad Kikötő.

13:00–16:00 – Model railway building
The Szakkörte team will host a model railway-building session at the Valyo!Pavilon.

14:00–20:00 – Mini traffic-rules track and pedal go-karting
The Grund will become a miniature traffic area where visitors can try pedal go-karts and learn about traffic rules.

14:00–16:00 – Freestyle roller skating competition
Roller skaters can take part in a freestyle competition at the Grund.

16:00–20:00 – Skateboarding
Skateboarding sessions continue through the afternoon at the Grund.

16:00–20:00 – Roller disco
The Saturday programme finishes on wheels with a roller disco at the Grund.

Sunday, September 20

Sunday shifts towards a more family-oriented programme, while still offering plenty of opportunities to get active and creative.

10:00–20:00 – Free sports equipment lending
The Valyo!Pavilon again provides free sports equipment throughout the day.

12:00–15:00 – Mimó and Csipek eco-adventures play library
Children can take part in eco-themed play activities at Lugasos.

12:00–18:00 – Cargo bike petting session
Cargonomia will introduce visitors to cargo bikes at Szabad Kikötő.

14:00–18:00 – Mini-mobile building
Valyo will host a creative mini-mobile construction activity at the Valyo!Pavilon.

15:00–18:00 – Bike pimping and traffic-rules course
The Hungarian Cyclists’ Club will combine bicycle customisation with a traffic-rules course at the Grund.

15:00–16:00 – Mimó and Csipek in the City puppet show
The family programme continues with a puppet performance at Lugasos.

16:00–18:00 – Upcycled jewellery workshop
Cargonomia will host a workshop at Szabad Kikötő where participants can create jewellery from reused materials.

18:00–20:00 – Gurul a Rakpart Mobility Carnival
The weekend concludes with Gurul a Rakpart, a rolling Mobility Carnival travelling from the Valyo!Pavilon towards the Meder area.

A Different Side of the Danube

The Mobility Weekend takes place within Valyo!Rakpart, part of Budapest's wider RAKPART initiative, which regularly turns sections of the Pest-side Danube embankment into car-free public space.

In 2026, the Rakpart operates from May 1 to October 25, with the embankment closed to traffic on weekends and on weekday evenings after 17:00.

The Valyo section between the Chain Bridge and Parliament is designed as a relaxed community space where people can stop, play, exercise or simply spend time beside the Danube.

The Mobility Weekend is completely free to attend, making it an easy option for families, groups of friends and anyone looking for an active weekend in central Budapest.

The location is within easy walking distance of the Vigadó tér tram stop and can also be reached with a short walk from Deák Ferenc tér. With the Chain Bridge, Parliament and the Danube providing the backdrop, the event offers a chance to experience one of Budapest's best-known public spaces in a distinctly different way.

Whether you want to try roller skating, jump into a pedal go-kart, build a model railway, take part in a creative workshop or simply enjoy the car-free riverside atmosphere, there is plenty happening across the two days.
