Phone Ban in Hungarian Parliament? Tisza & Momentum Mirror School Restrictions
The Tisza and Momentum parties are pushing for a ban on mobile phones in the Parliament, mirroring recent school restrictions.

Péter Magyar of the Tisza Party proposes that MPs should not bring phones or smartwatches into the building, allowing only laptops with limited access.

He declared that MPs should focus solely on legislative matters without distractions.

“Voters have a legitimate expectation that during such debates and decisions, MPs should not be distracted by their private affairs and social media use,” he said.

Momentum leader Dávid Bedő supports this move, arguing that if phone use is considered a major issue in schools, the same standard should apply to Parliament.

Momentum will introduce a resolution to require MPs to hand over their phones during sessions.

The proposal follows a new government decree mandating that students surrender their phones during school hours to reduce distractions and prevent cyberbullying.
