- 27 Nov 2024 5:56 AM
The organisation's integration programme has won funding for the third time from a scheme financed by the interior ministry from the EU-supported Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (MMIA), the statement said.
Since 2021, the programme has helped the integration of more than 1,700 refugees from, among others, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and Nigeria, it added.
Beyond providing shelter to the families, the Maltese Charity offers intensive support for restarting their life, including sending children to Hungarian schools, helping adults find employment, providing language training, and offering professional help to overcome traumas.
At the end of the programme, the families get stronger and are able to continue life in Hungary independently, without support.
The scheme's total budget is 1.5 billion forints (EUR 3.7m), according to the statement.
