Zeus Salas Solo Exhibition, Bakáts Bunker Underground Cultural Space Budapest
On display until 7 September. A series of programs will accompany the showcase during its one month-long run: there’ll be occasions for meeting with the artist during the opening hours; guided tours and art workshops during Bakáts Fest; while the music played at the opening and the finissage will focus music that plays a prominent role in Salas' work.

"Hello. Please step in.
Welcome to the Zeus Experience.
Take a deep breath. Now exhale.
Have you arrived?
Let’s get started.
As you walk the path of Before Me Tomorrow, you’re invited to take an imaginary seat in front of each painting and ask yourself.
What?, you may wonder.
It must be difficult to hear yourself over the noise of your racing thoughts.
Take another breath. Quiet your mind.
Can you hear the internal dialog between the you from yesterday and the you of tomorrow? Pay attention to the pauses and the whispers of your innermost self as it speaks to you through this lesson of the present.
Listen.
The choice is yours."

“Before Me Tomorrow weaves together seven years of Zeus Salas’s artistic work to create his first comprehensive solo exhibition. The showcase marks a checkpoint in the artist’s career, allowing him to share his work and contemplate his own art as he continues to move forward.

Comprising a significant body of work created between Buenos Aires and Budapest, the exhibition features paintings, illustrations, sculptures, and imprints of his performance art on the themes of personal investment as well as the beasts and demons that we carry within us and those that we create.

In his work, the artist uses himself as a subject of exploration—an approach that he has taken throughout his entire creative journey, leading him to develop his own personal iconography. He uniquely blends classical and mythological symbolic representations with impressions of his Latin American heritage, bringing a distinctive perspective as a foreigner to the art scene of Hungary.

This time, Salas has decided to present himself as a host, the showman who takes center stage but is not the star. The exhibition’s main purpose is essentially an invitation where the artist calls upon visitors to enter with a willingness to confront their inner selves, encouraging them to release past burdens and use his art as an inner mirror. The selection on view seeks to inspire new ways of navigating our soul and mind. In other words, Before Me Tomorrow serves as a reminder that the power to heal lies within us.” - Estefania Krauss, curator.
