Free Cash ATM Limit to be Increased in Hungary
The monthly maximum for free cash withdrawals from ATMs will be raised from Ft 150,000 to Ft 250,000 if Parliament’s economy committee and MPs support the proposal unanimously approved in the consumer protection subcommittee on Tuesday, independent MP Bence Tordai announced on Facebook.

The Ft 150,000 limit, unchanged for 10 years, has not kept up with inflation.

If approved, the change will probably cost the banking system several billion forints, as there is a 0.9% transaction tax on cash withdrawals, which banks cannot pass on to clients up to the limit, Portfolio adds.
