This axis had been "ruined" by urban planners in communist times, and now the capital and 5th district municipality want to restore "the old glory" of the area and revitalise one of the capital's historic thoroughfares as part of a series of investments aiming to reshape the image of Budapest.

Gergely Karacsony, the city's mayor, formally launched the cooperation between the capital and the 5th district municipality, and noted previous projects of a similar nature on Marcius 15 Square and Ferenciek Square, among others.
