Intersnack Inaugurates HUF 8 Billion Expansion in Hungary
German-owned snack maker Intersnack Magyarorszag inaugurated a HUF 8bn capacity expansion at its base in Gyor (NW Hungary).

The expansion, paid for with internal funding, will add oven-baked potato chips to the product palette and boost annual production capacity by 25pc from 16,000-17,000 tonnes.

Managing director Denes Lukacs said the new product would be rolled out in 15 European countries, in addition to Hungary, this year.

Intersnack Hungary, which has a headcount of over 300, is seeking partnerships with vocational training centres, he added.

Production of the oven-baked chips will be ramped up to almost 4,000 tonnes a year. The base in Gyor also turns out pretzels, crackers and extruded corn snacks.

Intersnack Magyarorszag had revenue of HUF 30.6bn in 2023, public records show.

The company buys close to 15,000 tonnes of wheat from local farmers each year.
