Closure of Chocolate Factory in Hungary Confirmed by Nestlé
Nestle Hungaria on Friday confirmed it will shut down production at its factory in Miskolc (NE Hungary) by year-end because of a decline in demand for seasonal chocolate figurines.

Staff were informed of the decision early in July, Nestle Hungaria said. Talks on the sale of the factory and its future operation are "at an advanced stage", it added.

"The company aims to ensure the chance to work for as many employees as possible and will hand the plant over to an investor who wants to continue sweets production," it added.

Nestle's factories in Szerencs (NE Hungary) and Buk (NW Hungary) will continue to undergo development.

Nestle has finished a HUF 900m upgrade of the road connecting to its plant in Buk (NW Hungary), the company told MTI.

Nestle widened a more than half-kilometer section of the road and built dedicated lanes for lorries and buses.

The investment will be opened to traffic in a few weeks, after the necessary permits are obtained.
