Hungary Reopens Tehran Embassy - Good Sign of 'Return to Normality'
- 9 Jul 2025 12:02 PM
The Hungarian government has fully restored the operations of its diplomatic mission in Iran, including consular services, parliamentary state secretary Levente Magyar said on Facebook, according to a ministry statement.
"The return was made possible by the improvement in the region’s security situation and the ceasefire that went into effect on June 24," Magyar said.
Hungary temporarily relocated its embassy to Baku on June 18, while embassy staff were continuously aiding the Hungarian citizens in Iran, with particular attention to those who had registered for consular protection, he said.
Magyar welcomed the gradual return to normality since then, with most residents having returned to Tehran, shops and services having resumed operation, and the partial resumption of international flights.
"Hungary was among the first European countries to return," the state secretary said.
He asked the Hungarian citizens already in Iran and those planning to visit to register for consular protection and to stay up to date on information released by the Consular Service.
"Hungary aims to ensure the protection of its citizens and maintain its diplomatic relations worldwide under all circumstances," Magyar said.
