Budafok Champagne & Wine Festival, 5 - 7 September
- 11 Aug 2025 5:41 PM
Festival locations include the historic Törley Champagne Factory, Sauska Winery, Katona Winery, and the Záborszky Mansion. The official opening will feature the traditional blessing of the grapes, while one of the special accompanying events is the György Kolonics Memorial Exhibition at Magdolna Udvar.
While wine and champagne take centre stage, organisers also emphasise the festival’s role in celebrating the communities that have shaped Budafok’s identity as Budapest’s Wine District. Mayor Ferenc Karsay noted that the area’s wine traditions date back to Roman times, grew during the monarchy, and are supported by a unique cellar network stretching over 100 kilometres beneath the city.
Music lovers can enjoy concerts throughout the weekend, with performances by the Dohnányi Big Band, Gergő Oláh, Animal Cannibals, the Tordasi Szívárvány Ensemble, and the Kolompos Band.
The programme also features Greek, Croatian, Ukrainian, and Roma cultural shows, a stilt-walking variety performance, puppet and storytelling sessions, and other activities for families and children.
The festival will close with the signing of a cooperation agreement between Tokaj and Budafok-Tétény, aimed at supporting winemakers, grape growing, wine tourism, and the promotion of responsible wine consumption.
