Head Doctors Arrested in Budapest Hospital Bribery Case
Two head doctors suspected of taking bribes in a Budapest hospital were arrested along with a social worker by Budapest Police on October 1, following two years of collecting data.

Investigations began after the National Defence Service filed a complaint on October 6, 2023, saying that two head doctors at the Péterfy Sándor utcai Hospital in the Seventh District were suspected of requesting a monthly Ft 100,000-140,000 for state-funded accommodation and care.

To create a semblance of legality, they operated an illegal cash register or the head doctors took the cash themselves. In their absence the cash was taken by a social worker employed by the hospital.

Police impounded hundreds of millions of forints, documents and technical equipment.
