BUHURT World Championship (July 17-20, 2025)

The City of Visegrád will host this competition in collaboration with the Hungarian Buhurt Federation and the Order of Saint George. The Hungarian National Museum’s King Matthias Museum, will stage this prestigious event bringing together top competitors from around the world. Hungary’s finest medieval re-enactment groups will also take part, ensuring a spectacular showcase of skill and tradition.

Buhurt, once a highlight of medieval knightly tournaments across Europe, has been revived as a modern sport. Combatants - fully clad in armour - compete in duals and team battles using swords, maces, and lances, all within a strict set of rules that emphasize fair play and sportsmanship.
