Knight Fights: International Palace Games of Visegrád, 11 - 13 July
The International Palace Games of Visegrád is Hungary’s largest medieval festival, held annually on the second weekend of July.

This vibrant 3-day event welcomes a wide international audience with a diverse programme featuring hundreds of Hungarian and foreign participants: re-enactors, musicians, dancers, comedians, and jugglers—all set within a uniquely authentic historical atmosphere.

The event commemorates the historic royal summit of 1335 in Visegrád, a milestone in Central European cooperation. By celebrating this legacy, the festival highlights the importance of our shared historical and cultural heritage.

Since its launch in 1985, the Palace Games has stood as a living symbol of regional unity, fostering strong cultural ties among nations.

Today, participants arrive from across the Visegrád Four (V4) countries, as well as from Italy, Germany, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, and Austria.

The highlight of the festival is the spectacular tournaments, where foot soldiers and mounted knights compete on the original tournament grounds of the royal palace.

These are accompanied by dance performances, flag-throwing displays, medieval games, thrilling contests, and falconry shows.

Many events take place in the authentically restored rooms and suites of the palace, as well as in its beautiful Renaissance garden, offering a rare glimpse into the splendour of royal life.

Across the festival area, you’ll find period music performances, interactive medieval dance shows, dramatic duels, puppet theatres, street comedy, and a bustling medieval marketplace.

Join in and experience this one-of-a-kind celebration—a magical blend of history, spectacle, and fun for the whole family!
