Responding to remarks by his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul, who said Hungary was "betraying its own struggle for freedom" and ignoring its own heritage by blocking EU sanctions, Szijjarto condemned what he called Berlin's "increasingly open and aggressive" criticism.

"And I think it's rather rich for a German to lecture Hungary and Hungarians on historical legacy," he told a press conference before a town hall meeting, according to a ministry statement.

Szijjarto said Berlin was escalating its attacks because Hungary "will not allow Ukraine to toy with us". He insisted there were no technical obstacles to restarting oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline, blaming Ukraine’s "political blackmail" for the blockade.

"And those now blocking oil deliveries via the Druzhba pipeline are the ones who blew up the Nord Stream gas pipeline, and we understand that Germany tolerates state terrorism threatening its energy security -- but we will not," he said.

Szijjarto reaffirmed Hungary's stance: "We will not support any EU decision benefiting Ukraine until the oil blockade ends."

Meanwhile, he said a "Brussels-Berlin-Kyiv axis" had formed to force a change of government in Hungary, seeking a "pro-Ukraine administration that would drag Hungary into the war, send Hungarians' money to Ukraine, and approve Ukraine's accession to the European Union".
