Guest of Honour Revealed for Budapest International Book Festival
Irish author Colm Toibin will be the guest of honour at the 31st Budapest International Book Festival, to be held on the Hungexpo fair grounds between 1 - 4 October, the organiser Hungarian Association of Book Publishers and Distributors (MKKE) said.

Toibin is also nominated for the Budapest Grand Prize. The Hungarian translation of his latest book, The Magician, is set to be published in time for the festival, MKKE said. He will also hold his inaugural speech at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the statement said.

Marking the 50th anniversary of Hungarian-Irish diplomatic ties, several renowned Irish authors have been invited and panel discussions will be held.

Another focus will be German-language literature, with Austria, Germany and Switzerland as countries of honour, the statement said.
