Need for Foreign Workers in Hungary Highlighted by Dairy Lobby Group
The labour market situation in the animal husbandry sector and especially in dairy production is tense. Without foreign employees, there are not enough workers, Hungary's Dairy Products Council said on Friday in a statement.

Recently many businesses have expressed concern about the loss of hard-to-replace workers.

Animal care and milking are stressful jobs, and it has been almost impossible to find and retain adequately qualified domestic workers for years, so foreigners would not take jobs away from Hungarians, but would fill a gap, the organisation said.

The council said that if foreign workers were to be dismissed due to the expiration of their residence permits, operational disruptions could be expected, efficiency indicators would deteriorate, and the forced closure of farms and reduction of animal stock would lead to a decline in production, weakening the competitiveness of Hungarian enterprises.
