In the past 20 years László has tried himself at many different, not necessarily related, but very interesting fields: he has worked in a travel agency, managed professional consultancy, choreographed dance performances, but also delivered newspaper. He has spent the longest time in education and consultancy. He teaches at various institutes of higher education both abroad (e.g. Finland, Estonia) and in Hungary (presently Head of the School of Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality at the BKF University of Applied Sciences). He is the (co-)author of numerous specialised books (e.g.: Health and Wellness Tourism, Impacts of Tourism, From Attractions to Experiences, Tourism in Historic Cities) and articles in professional journals.

He has begun his professional tourism and travel consultancy career, while he was still at school, as a colleague at the Tourism Research Centre of Budapest University of Economic Sciences, where he worked until 2001. Then he joined the Travel, Leisure and Tourism Team of KPMG, where he had the chance to experience how it is to work at a multinational company and in its international milieu. In 2004 he decided that an ideal match to his lifestyle would be a smaller and more personal company, and so he co-founded (and named) Xellum Ltd. The since past years and the professional partners provided him the opportunity to benefit from his knowledge and broaden his experiences in his beloved fields: apart from tourism, in the world of museums, experience mapping and design and health.

He participated in more than a hundred projects in various fields: research, strategic and tactic planning, product development, experience mapping and design, effect-analysis and marketing in health-, wellness- and spa-tourism, transport, heritage and cultural tourism, eco-tourism and some specialised or thematic touristic products. László is an internationally known and acknowledged expert, he lectures at various international professional and academic conferences and congresses, and he is member of the Global Speakers' Network.

1. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Gyula, which is a medium sized historic spa town, SouthEast Hungary

2. If you could be an expat anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
That is a difficult one! I believe I could be fine in most places (would be easier to say where I would not like to be)

3. What would you miss most if you moved away from Hungary?
One thing, really, I would need to have regular parcels of TúróRudi (the dotty one, of course!)

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
They must absolutely do a ruin-pub-crawl, visit Szécheny Bath and eat some fabulous cakes, and have a walk from the Buda Castle to the Városliget.

5. What is your favourite food?
Pasta, chicken and seafood dishes

6. What is your favourite sport / form of exercise?
I like walking and when I can find some time use a cross-trainer.

7. What is your favourite place in Hungary?
Balaton and Lillafüred

8. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
I would like to be a ‘nose’, i.e. parfume and smell creating. Got already tempted to take a course in France.

9. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Nothing with being mainly admin/office work...And I do need creative tasks and inspiring activities.

10. Where did you spend your last vacation?
East Hungary on a road trip, and I also have some ‘vacation time’ during my travels (a couple hours, that is!)

11. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
In a lovely family villa in Corfu.

12. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
It is last century! Well, I liked KFT and Depeche Mode, and Star Wars (who didn’t?) and bizarrely, METEO (which is an alternative movie made in Hungary). I used to dance for over 10 years as in hobby, and competed, too.

13. Apart of temptation what can't you resist?
Music, comedies (British ones, that is). And, rmm, biscuits, sadly.

14. Red wine or white?
White, please!

15. Book or movie?
Movie, for sure. I am very visual and I enjoy watching, listening and imagining more than reading.

16. Morning person or night person?
Used to be night person before. Actually, now I am both, does not really make any difference.

17. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?
Human rights and equal opportunities (by race, gender, sexual and political orientation)

18. Buda or Pest side?
Pest, most definitely. I cannot relate to Buda.

19. Which achievement in your life are you most pleased about?
Family and kids. For years, I thought I could not do any such things, such a responsibility, etc. I proved myself being wrong about it, which is really great!

20. What would you say is your personal motto?
Life without inspiration and passion is only a glass half empty.
