The Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum and Research Centre in Vörösmarty utca 35, District 6, opened in September 1986 in the Old Academy of Music building, previously used from late 1875 until mid-1907 for music teaching. Early photographs show that there were originally two buildings on the site at the time of inauguration but one building has since been demolished.

The ”rock star” of classic music in Budapest. On 14 December Nigel Kennedy, the virtuoso violin and viola player will present his LP introduction tour, titled The New Four Season. The artist also made it into the Guinness Book of Records as performer of the biggest selling classic LP, and now in Papp László Budapest Sports Arena he performs the revisited version of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.

Hungarian President János Áder has met International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach in New York to outline Hungary’s arguments which would justify that Budapest should host the Olympic Summer Games in 2024. Hungary was a founding member of the IOC and the only one among the top ten medal-winners that had never hosted the Olympic Games.
