World-Renowned Cellist Perenyi to Play Bach Suites at Basilica in Pannonhalma
World-renowned cellist Miklos Perenyi will play three of Johann Sebastian Bach's cello suites at the St Martin Basilica at the Pannonhalma Abbey in north-west Hungary on April 11, organisers said.

At the solo concert, Perenyi will play Bach's first three cello suites, No.1 in G major, No.2 in D minor and No. 3 in C major, the statement said.

A prodigious talent, Perenyi started his studies at the Budapest Music Academy at age 7 and gave his first concert at 9. He has been a teacher at the Academy since 1974.

His repertoire spans all musical genres from the baroque to 20th century music.

He is the holder of the Kossuth and Liszt Prizes, among other awards. In 2005, his album of all Beethoven's works for cello, made in collaboration with pianist Andras Schiff, won the Cannes Classical Award.
