True dedication to the call to music as well as a brilliant combination of talent, mastery and artistic innovation: This is the young chamber orchestra “Anima Musicae” from Budapest which recently celebrated huge successes in Hungary as well as abroad, performing for example at such renowned venues like the Gewandhaus Leipzig, Musikverein Wien, Teatro Verdi Sassari or the Berliner Philharmonie.

That this characterization of this high-class string orchestra is not an overstatement you can experience during an extremely interesting and eye-opening concert in the Grand Hall of the Liszt Academy (Liszt Ferenc Zeneakadémia, Nagyterem) in Budapest on Friday, 17th February, 2017, 7:30 pm.

At this occasion the young artists of “Anima Musicae”, an ensemble which was founded by students of the Liszt Ferenc Zeneművészeti Egyetem (Franz Liszt Music Academy) Budapest in 2010, will guide you through the universe and history of music for string instruments, demonstrating the diversity of music of that kind of instruments and the large scope of opportunities for generating a wonderful sound by using string instruments.

The program contains an entertaining “musical painting” of a battle, called “Battalia”, composed by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber in the 17th century, contrasted by the contemporary and very experimental piece “Luca Marenzio in Salzburg”, written by the young Hungarian composer Máté Balogh who wrote this piece in 2012 on request of “Anima Musicae”.

Another highlight of the evening will be the young, award-winning Hungarian cellist Ditta Rohmann, known for her excellent Bach interpretations, who will perform together with the orchestra Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s cello concerto number 3 in A major.

The concert will be closed by performing the “Hymn” of the Swiss composer Arthur Honegger and the “Divertimento” of his Hungarian contemporary Béla Bartók.
