The season’s last Grandhouse luncheon on June 16 hosted Dame Jane Goodall of chimpanzee fame before a blockbuster rapt audience of 85 guests, a roster of ambassadors among them, this time not as usual at the Academy of Science but at Kogart House gallery restaurant along the World Heritage listed Andrássy út.

The Palace of Arts celebrates its 10th birthday with a particularly special series of events between 14-15 March. This spring weekend is the “crowning jewel” in Müpa’s jubilee season, where a cast of artists will take to the stage who have all provided outstanding concert entertainment over the past decade at the region’s leading institution of the performing arts.

The CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival will feature nearly 250 events, including classical music, jazz and popular music concerts, dance performances, exhibitions and literary events, at 47 venues between October 3 and 19. The Bridging Europe arts festival will focus on German culture during its four-day programme starting on Sept. 10 this year. The festival organised for the second time by the Palace of Arts and the Budapest Festival Orchestra seeks to find connections between Hungarian culture and the cultures of other countries through music. Last year the Czech Republic was in focus.
