The local council of Óbuda, Budapest’s Third District, approved a “kitsch tax” on newly built homes at its meeting on Thursday. Budapest city council approved a long list of proposed venues for the 2024 Olympic games to be included in the official bid presentation. The chief venue would be a new 60,000-seat stadium for track and field events, to be built on Csepel Island, that could later be scaled down to 15,000 seats.

The first two Siemens Combino trams equipped with CCTV cameras, began running along the 4-6 line in Budapest on Tuesday. The so-called Futár passenger information system has also been installed on board. All of the city’s Combino trams will soon be similarly equipped in hopes of preventing violence.
