Wholesale vehicle fuel prices in Hungary will rise about 6-13 (EUR 0.02 – 0.04) forints per litre from Saturday, when new rules on excise tax take effect. The price of petrol will rise by 6.4 forints per litre, bringing the price at the pump to around 340 forints.

US consumer goods company Procter and Gamble announced a 200 million dollar investment project when signing a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hungarian government at the company’s plant in Csömör near Budapest on Tuesday. On behalf of the government, the agreement was signed by Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

The excise tax of petrol will rise by 5 forints per litre and that of diesel by 10 forints per litre from Oct. 1, in line with legislation passed in June linking excise tax on vehicle fuel to global energy prices. According to the June legislation if the average global price of Brent oil in a designated period is below 50 US dollars per barrel then excise tax of fuel rises.
