For a year he worked as a law clerk on a city council and from 1986 to 1990 he worked at the Sociology Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

The lone exception was Regional Development Minister Sándor Fazekas, who is abroad. Other nominations are possible by 8 a.m. Friday, but none are expected. Parliament will elect the new president at 10 a.m. on May 2.
