For the first time in Budapest audiences may experience a symphony orchestra performing music to the entire film from one of the most beloved film franchises in history. Live Nation recently announced that the Magyar Virtuozok Orchestra will perform Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on January 21st at Budapest Arena as part of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series.

The packed out screening of a documentary dubbed Journey Home marked the launch of a film festival at the Hungarian embassy in Washington, DC, in honour of the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Journey Home is a documentary by two sisters, Réka and Eszter Pigniczky, about their father László Pigniczky “Pige”, who was a freedom fighter in Budapest in 1956.

From September 22 – October 1, 2016, the EYEFUL Festival is back for the fifth time, organized jointly by the Embassy of Switzerland, the Austrian Cultural Forum, and the Goethe-Institute. The festival was established in 2004 by a group of young Hungarian filmmakers in order to fill a gap in the category of short film, but over the years it became clear that it was about much more. The international breakthrough came rapidly on the 3rd festival in 2007 when shorts were screened from 45 countries.
