Now On: Italian Film Festival in Budapest
Eleven contemporary Italian films will be screened at the 23rd MittelCinemaFest until 15 November at the Puskin and Tabán cinemas.

In addition to Italian filmmakers, the audience will also be able to meet the Hungarian actor Fanni Wrochna, whose work Eleonora Duse is based on.

Organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Budapest and Cinecitta, it will be opened by the biographical drama Out There, directed by Mario Martone, which debuted in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.

According to that story, writer Goliarda Sapienza is imprisoned for jewelry theft, where she experiences her encounter with some young convicts as a rebirth: she rediscovers the joy of life and her desire for writing.

The film Vermiglio - Bride of the Mountain is also scheduled for screening. In the film, Pietro, a soldier hiding from World War II, seeks refuge in an Alpine village. His arrival turns the everyday life of the otherwise closed community upside down.

Maura Delpero's film, which won the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival and was nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Foreign Language Film category, tells the story of love, internal conflicts and the psychology of a village in the shadow of war from a female perspective.

In the documentary film " Under the Clouds, " which won the Special Jury Prize in Venice, the submerged Roman villas of Pompeii and Herculaneum tell the story of a once-existing future buried by time. In the wake of history and underground relics, a lesser-known Naples comes alive, the statement said.

The film My Sweet Treasure will also be shown , in which Nico is forced to spend the summer in Sicily with his elderly aunt. Slowly, a deep bond develops between them. The film won the Special Jury Prize at Locarno, and Aurora Quattrocchi took home the award for best performance.

In the film A School Year , 18-year-old Swedish Fred is dropped into an all-boys class in Trieste, where she is the only girl. She attracts the attention of three boys in particular, whose friendship is put to the test by her arrival. The film won the Lanterna Magica award at Venice, and Giacomo Covi was awarded the Best Actor award in the Orizzonti section.

The festival also features Letters from Sicily, which won three awards at Venice . The film stars Toni Servillo as Catello, a veteran politician who loses everything during his years in prison.

When the Italian secret service asks him for help in capturing his godson Matteo, a fugitive mafia member, Catello seizes the opportunity to make a comeback.

The Szeged Downtown Cinema will also be showing three films, the announcement reads.
