The first Budapest Circus Festival was held 20 years ago, in 1996 and as a result of the notion and casting of the professionals of the Hungarian Circus And Variety Non-profit Ltd. (MACIVA) it soon proved to be equal with the great festivals of the circus world: in addition to Monte Carlo, Latina and Moscow also Budapest has become an important meeting place for the circus art.

It has become a tradition for the "Hundred Member" Gipsy Orchestra to give a gala concert on December the 30th in Budapest Congress Centre. The audience will get the chance to hear the pieces of Liszt, Brahms, Strauss and Khachaturian in the interpretation of outstanding musicians.

In Valetta, Malta, where the EU-Africa summit is being held, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that the Visegrád countries will send over 300 border patrol and police officers to Greece “so that we can halt the migration wave at the southern borders of Greece”.
