Ancestors Days: Celebrating Hungary’s Ancient Heritage, 8 - 10 August

Ancestors Day, one of Hungary’s largest heritage festivals, will once again take place in the southern village of Bugac from August 8 to 10. The three-day event will feature horseback archery, traditional strength sports, cultural exhibitions, and family-friendly programmes.

In 1930, a Hungarian inventor named László József Bíró observed children playing with marbles in a puddle. He noticed that the marbles left a trail of water as they rolled, sparking an innovative idea: why not use a ball-shaped metal nib for writing? This observation led to the conceptualization of the now world famous ballpoint pen.
