GKI-Erste’s combined gauge of consumer and business confidence edged down to -3.6 points in March from -3.2 points in February as consumer expectations worsened. Whereas the business index rose to 4.2 points from 3.5 points, the consumer index fell to -25.8 points from -22.4 points.

Economic analysts polled by MTI expect Fidesz, which won a sweeping victory in Sunday’s election, to continue pursuing its economic policies in the new term. Péter Heim, head of Századvég economic research institute, said the new Fidesz government is likely to keep the budget deficit below 3% of the country’s output, and the deficit is likely to come nearer to 2% in 2015.
South Stream May Bypass Hungary, Croatian Daily Reports

Croatian daily Jutarnji List reported earlier this week that the pipeline might bypass Hungary and go through Croatia instead on its way to Austria.
