Retail sales in Hungary were revised downward to an annual 5.2 percent in June from 5.5 percent in the first reading, the Central Statistical Office said in a second reading of data on Wednesday. Adjusted for calendar year effects, retail sales were up 5.7 percent. Adjusted food sales increased by 3.7 percent, non-food sales jumped 8.3 percent and fuel sales rose by 5.1 percent.

Output of Hungary’s construction sector rose by an annual 27.2 percent in June, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Thursday show. KSH noted that the jump came from a low base. Output of the building segment was up 26.1 percent during the period. Output of the civil engineering segment rose by 29.6 percent.

Consumer prices in Hungary rose by an annual 2.1 percent in July, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday. As in June, prices were unchanged in a monthly comparison. Twelve-month CPI picked up from 1.9 percent in June and was slightly over analysts’ estimates.

Think-tank Kopint-Tárki has lowered its projection for annual average inflation this year to 2.3% from 2.7% forecast in April. Its expectation for economic growth this year was unchanged at 3.7%, but next year growth is forecast at 3.5% as opposed to the April projection of 3.2%.
