World Press Photo Opens In Museum Of Ethnography

The World Press Photo exhibition, along with Hungarian category 3rd prize winner Bence Máté’s show, will be on display between Sept. 21 and Oct. 23 in the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest. Speaking to the press before the opening ceremony, Tamás Révész, organiser of the Hungarian show, said that from 80,000 submitted photographs around 150 had been chosen.

The world’s only permanent exhibition featuring the images of Robert Capa (1913-1954), the internationally renowned Hungarian-born war photographer and photojournalist, will open in Budapest’s Capa Centre in October 2018, the state secretary for culture said.

For the first time in several decades, Hungarian works of art, ones by Tibor Hajas and Attila Csörgő, will feature at the central exhibition of the Venice Biennale, starting on May 13, organisers told a press briefing on Tuesday. The Hungarian pavilion will host the work of Gyula Várnai, curated by Zsolt Petrányi, titled “Peace on Earth!”, state secretary for culture Péter Hoppál said.

Capa in Color presents the color work of the world-renowned Hungarian-born photographer taken between 1938 and 1954. The show was first exhibited in New York last year.
