With over a thousand dancing feet, nearly a hundred musicians and one conductor, the Budapest Festival Orchestra (BFO) will once again be giving a free concert on Heroes’ Square on 10 June. The heroes of the event will be the young people, Roma and non-Roma from privileged and less-privileged backgrounds, for whom the preparations have just started all over the country.

Hungary is ranked 50th on Bloombergʼs Misery Index, improving compared to last year’s 46th, as the list is a negative one ranked from worst to best, according to Hungarian online news portal hvg.hu. Bloomberg rates 65 countries annually.

Almost all Hungarian lower secondary school pupils learnt a foreign language in 2015 but only a few studied two, data compiled by Eurostat shows. Fully 90.5% of the 385,300 lower secondary school pupils in Hungary learnt one foreign language while 6% studied two or more.

700 employees from 30 international and Hungarian companies joined the 10.000 steps initiative, launched by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in September 2015. The first milestone of the 100-day program is a half-day walk organized on October 8, where close to a hundred participants walked from the St Stephen’s Basilica to the Margaret Island.
