More than 360 of Hungary’s cultural institutions will stay open late and offer special attractions on this year’s Museum Night on June 20th, culture state secretary Péter Hoppál announced. Participating venues include, castles, open air museums, zoos, public baths, botanical gardens, cultural centres and archives.

Consisting of paintings, sculptures, graphic artworks and installations by some two hundred artists, this large-scale exhibition focuses on the changes in art over the past ten years. Such changes include a multitude of complementary artistic achievements which, beyond processing the effects of crisis present in the world and society, have also come up with some positive messages.

The 22nd Budapest International Book Festival will highlight on 220 years of Hungarian book culture, festival director Péter Zentai told a press briefing on Tuesday. Zentai said the festival will be held at the Millenáris from April 23-26.

Oriented towards cultural history, this thematic exhibit applies diverse interpretations to the genre of the artist’s book, while making its own contribution to the current discourse on the future of the book. The book appears simultaneously as the symbol of the continuously passing present, and as a precious, hidden nook of what has formerly appeared eternal, the Gutenberg Galaxy.

UNESCO proclaimed 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies. The Kunsthalle Budapest contributes an exhibition of the Munkácsy Prize-winner Attila Csáji to the initiative. The physical and spiritual dimension of light has assumed a crucial role in the oeuvre of Csáji (1939).
