1956 Remembered: Hungarian is the Language of Freedom, Says President Novák

“Hungarian is the language of freedom,” President Katalin Novák told a commemoration of Hungary’s 1956 anti-Soviet revolt organised by the Hungarian community of Melbourne. Marking the anniversary of the failed revolution on its eve, the president said “October 23 is the greatest holiday of the [Hungarian] diaspora, a day to celebrate and also to mourn.”

Ragnar Almqvist Irish Ambassador to Hungary

The son of a Swedish folklorist and Irish writer, Ragnar Almqvist was born and raised in Dublin. Educated through the Irish language, he took degrees in English literature, German and Economics, joining Ireland’s diplomatic service in 2008. He is joined in Budapest by his wife, Ailbhe Keating, and daughters, Freja and Sadhbh.

Costes Downtown is a restaurant of Costes Group, located on the ground level of the Prestige Hotel in the heart of Budapest. The Japanese-Hungarian restaurant opened its doors in 2015 and has been listed in the Michelin Guide since 2016, when it was awarded a Michelin Star.
