Hungary to Adopt Euro if Tisza Party Wins 2026 Elections?
The Tisza Party is seriously considering adopting the euro, according to the party’s economics expert, Andras Karman, in an interview published by 444.

Karman expressed that Hungary stands to gain more benefits than drawbacks from switching to the euro, stating, "Among EU countries not currently using the euro, Hungary would have the most to gain by adopting it."

He explained this due to two main reasons: Hungary’s economy is deeply integrated with the eurozone, and its domestic monetary policy lacks credibility because inflation has not been consistently controlled. Introducing the euro, he said, would bring lower interest rates, reduced inflation, and greater investment security.

Additionally, Karman reiterated the party’s commitment to cut the VAT on healthy food from 27% to 5%, aiming to reduce prices.

The funding for this would partly come from ending overpriced public procurements and partly through a new property tax.
