Budapest Intertwining Tram Network Completed

The technical handover of the Buda intertwining tram network has been completed on December 23, 2015, for the planned deadline, so the intertwined tram traffic can start on January 16, 2016. Currently, smaller defects of the lines are being replaced and the tram drivers are being educated, and the test runs without passengers have started.

As in previous years, BKK Centre for Budapest Transport provides continuous public transport services during the holidays. On New Year’s Eve, frequent services and buses with higher capacity will ensure that everyone will be able to reach their destination in Budapest. Good news about parking, as it's free-of-charge in public car parks around Budapest until 4 January 2016 (Monday morning).

The 56 meter long CAF trams are expected to start running on line nr 1 next spring. Tram drivers are already practising to drive it on simulators. Deputy Mayor Balázs Szeneczey explained during the ceremony that the new, Spanish-made tram is the longest one in the world, it has 86 seats and its passenger capacity is 345.
