Official: Health Care Needs To Shed Beds Used For Social Care

Clear divisions are needed between hospital beds operated with health care and social needs, Health State Secretary Zoltán Ónodi-Szűcs told commercial TV2. The health-care services plan to reallocate 10,000 beds within the next year and a half to the social services in order to keep these two areas separate.

Human Resources Ministry undersecretary for health policy Attila Beneda admitted yesterday that there is a crisis in the sector, as there are not enough family doctors to fill vacant posts, with the shortage most acute in northern Hungary.

Zoltán Balog said that it is “our duty to liberate the huge reserves of power” in Roma culture “to serve our common future.” He said Hungarians by now had no excuse not to be aware of the “dreadful tragedy” of the Roma Holocaust.
