I was cordially invited to the press conference of the Italian festival series, which begins this month. In attendance were HE Maria Assunta Accili - Hungarian Ambassador to Italy, Enrico Barbieri - ICE - Italian Institute for Foreign Trade Director and Gina Giannotti – Director of the Italian Cultural Institute.

By: We Love Budapest We do not need to introduce the small restaurant in Kertész Street that is somewhat easy to miss. It's one of the main hangouts of French gastronomy fans since about 2002. Now, after some minor renovations the restaurant awaits guests with a modernised kitchen and – literally – redrawn decorations.

For those of you, like me, who have been going to the Ecseri Piac Flea Market for twenty years it is very sad to see how it is winding down. It used to be a regular Saturday rendezvous for diplomats and expats, and we would all have lunch in the little family run kocsma in the far left corner.

This was a big festival, and for those who love fish and fish dishes this was the place to go. The Hortobágyi Fish Farm’s crew and the capitals of fish soups - Szeged and Baja - were on show. You could also find local restaurants and the best of the country’s street food restaurants.

Born in Rome, Anna is French and Canadian of Russian origin. Both sets of grandparents were born in Russia and escaped during the revolution in 1917 making their way to Paris where they settled. Eventually her paternal grandparents immigrated to New York and once again started new lives.
