Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has appointed deputy state secretary Kristóf Altusz as the government’s negotiator on the operation of foreign universities in Hungary, the prime minister’s press chief said. It is the government’s conviction that the conditions set in the higher education act are easily achievable by all wellmeaning universities, Bertalan Havasi said.

Opposition parties on Monday criticised President János Áder for signing an amended law on higher education which governs the operations of foreign universities in Hungary. The Socialist Party said Áder had “proved that he is unfit to serve as president”, arguing that he was “unable to determine the interests of the nation or embody its unity”.
