Top 5 Winter Experiences Around Balaton
The expansive Lake Balaton region offers a great variety of experiences in the colder season as well as in summer, as you can see in this handy one minute video.

To relax how about diving into the warm waters at Hévíz, or a sauna at Szigliget, both by the banks of Lake Balaton.

Swimmers can either enjoy the lake itself (if it's not frozen over!) or have some aquatic fun at Zalakaros in the adventure pools, which is a great experience to try by the lake - especially if you have kids.

After any of those, you could go for a good drink followed by a stroll around the historic city of Veszprém, or even a winter hike up one of the many lovely hills overlooking Balaton.

After a walk you can always reward yourself with a local feast at one of Balaton’s many eateries that stay open all through the winter months.

Getting there:

If you don't own a car either rent one from Dryyve, or jump on a train:

MAV trains depart from both Déli and Kelenföld staions in Budapest, and the journey to Hévíz/Keszthely takes around 2 hours 45 mins via Balatonszentgyörgy.

To get to Veszprém by train you can go direct from Déli, the journey time is about 1 hour 30 mins.
