The World Jewish Congress began its three-day meeting in Budapest on 3 May with nearly 500 delegates from all over the world. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán delivered his opening speech in front of the 14th General Assembly and stated that the Hungarian Government considers it its moral obligation to promote "zero tolerance" against anti-Semitism.

Political scientist Jozsef Debreczeni presented his latest book, A 2006-osz (The Autumn of 2006) to the media and politicians. Former Democratic Forum caucus leader Karoly Herenyi, former Democratic Forum MP Szabolcs Kerek-Barczy, former Free Democrat MP Tamas Bauer and former Free Democrat interior minister Gabor Kuncze all attended the book launch.

November is a time to remember those who have gone before. In Hungary, Imagefamilies visit cemeteries, leave wreaths and flowers, light candles and talk about loved ones they’ve lost. For me, it’s a time to think about Hungarians whose lives were lived in the shadow of war, fascism, communism or poverty, and I am once again grateful to have grown up in peace, freedom and prosperity.

"On October 10, 2012 My grandpa Alexandru Demian took a bus from Budapest to Oradea , Romania. He got of the bus in Szolnok and went to the gas station (Shell) to buy water. He did not came back since then. The only person that seen him was that day behind the gas station in the forest asking for water. It's been 12 days since then. We checked with the police, hospitals, put fliers. Nobody can ...

On September 14-16, the U.S. Embassy in Budapest hosted Judy and Dennis Shepard, founders of the Matthew Shepard Foundation. The Shepards dedicate their work to the memory of their son Matthew who was killed in an anti-gay hate crime in 1998 and seek to promote understanding and acceptance through education, outreach and advocacy programs.
