The opposition Dialogue for Hungary (PM) has appealed to the human resources minister in an open letter for the ruling parties’ support to eliminate the problem of starving children. Hungary’s “BB+” sovereign credit rating is a single notch below investment grade and its outlook is positive and it is likely to be upgraded to investment category, Fitch Ratings said. Ever since Hungary was downgraded to speculative grade in January 2012, its credit profile has improved considerably, consistent with the current positive outlook, Fitch said.

Hungarians consider themselves relatively uninformed as regards to financial affairs, but consult several sources when it comes to finding investment options, a survey conducted jointly by CIB Bank and the GfK research institute showed. The two firms conducted the research by asking online 500 people in the 25-69 age group who use the internet on a weekly basis.

The cabinet has submitted a bill to Parliament whereby those who collect snails, mushrooms, curative herbs and similar plants in wooded areas without an entrepreneurial licence will have to pay a 4% tax. The tax would be paid by those purchasing such products. The Socialists describe the proposal as symbolic of the robbing of the poorest members of society.
