Easter Programmes Throughout Hungary

Apart from major religious celebrations, Hungary will celebrate Easter with many programmes in the capital, in open air museums, and towns and villages nationwide. The biggest traditional Easter event, the third Easter Merriment will be held in Budapest’s Buda Castle on April 19- 21.

Gábor Czene of Népszabadság conducted an interview with Tamás Fabiny, bishop of the northern district of the Hungarian Lutheran Church. Fabiny was ordained in Erlangen, Germany in 1982. He also studied in the United States. In addition to his church activities he worked for Duna TV. Since 2010 he has been the vice chairman of the Lutheran World Federation.

By Kathy Megyeri: In 2007, my husband was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit of the Republic of Hungary for his outstanding actions during the 1956 Revolution, his promotion of Hungary's membership to NATO, and his achievements among Hungarian Americans. He proudly wore his medal each day to signal his pride as a Hungarian-American.
