According to Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister György Bakondi, there is no question of migration coming to a stop, because although the number of people arriving in Europe from war zones in Syria and Iraq is decreasing, more are arriving from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Hungarian government has announced it is issuing a public tender for the Hungarian stretch of the Budapest-Belgrade rail line, reports index.hu. The announcement was made Monday morning by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán during the Central and Eastern European Countries and China (China-CEEC 16+1) summit hosted in Budapest.

I first visited Budapest in 1982. I came with some friends on the overnight train from Warsaw, where I was working at the British Embassy. Howling dogs and misty border crossings - it was like living in a John le Carré novel. Budapest was shrouded in freezing fog all weekend but I still fell in love with the city.
